Shanghai Pinghe School was founded in 1996 as a private K–12 school offering primary, junior secondary, and senior secondary education. Pinghe was among the first schools in Shanghai to be officially designated as a "bilingual school" and was also one of the first pilot schools authorized by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission to offer international high school curricula. In addition to implementing China's national curriculum, the school offers students a diverse range of international programmes at the senior secondary level, including the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), Advanced Placement (AP), and A-Level programmes. Together, these form an integrated academic system that bridges Chinese and international educational traditions. Guided by its core philosophy of "balanced without being ordinary, harmonious while embracing differences," the school is committed to exploring educational practices that are rooted in Chinese culture within a global context.
