Overview

Shanghai American School (SAS) is one of Shanghai's longest-established international schools. Founded in 1912 under the auspices of the United States Consulate in Shanghai, the school has a history spanning more than a century. It operates two campuses in Pudong and Puxi and currently serves more than 2,800 students. SAS received full WASC accreditation across all grade levels as early as the 1980s, covering education from early childhood through senior high school. The school offers both the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme and Advanced Placement (AP) courses and was the first school in Asia to introduce the AP Capstone Diploma programme. The school seeks to inspire a lifelong passion for learning, nurture integrity and compassion, and empower students to pursue their aspirations with courage. Through this educational mission, SAS is committed to developing well-rounded, globally minded individuals equipped to thrive in an interconnected world.
