青苗国际双语学校校长谈丨如何培养孩子的创造力与创新力，为未来赋能

青苗从上个世纪90年代就已开始探索“采中西合璧之萃，品文化融合之美”的双语教学之路。23年来，青苗从一个校区、一所幼儿园起步，发展成覆盖全国的20余所校区。

其中，青苗国际双语学校顺义校区最早成立，也是最早开设初高中实现K-12教育、北京地区少有获得国际文凭组织IB全认证体系的学校之一，同时获得美国西部院校联盟WASC的认证，校内即为托福和SAT考场。

2013年6月，顺义校区高中部通过国际文凭大学预科项目（IB DP）认证。

2014年6月，青苗国际双语学校荣获美国西部院校联盟（WASC）认证。这意味着青苗国际双语学校的高中文凭具有美国高中文凭效力，相当于从美国本土的高中直接毕业。

2016年7月，顺义校区初中部通过国际文凭中学项目（IB MYP）认证。

2018年7月，顺义校区小学部通过国际文凭小学项目（IB PYP）认证。至此，青苗国际双语学校顺义校区达成IB全认证，成为真正的IB世界名校。

2019年10月，青苗教育集团与牛津 AQA 国际考试局及 British Council 英国文化教育协会签署战略合作，引进包括 GCSE 和 A-Level 课程在内的英式国际课程体系，并执行课程考试。

截至2020年，青苗已发展为在全国拥有24所校区，涵盖从幼儿园到初高中的教育集团，为来自35个国家近2500名中外籍学生提供中西合璧的优质双语教育。

曾任京西学校副校长，是国际新英格兰院校协会(NEASC)及国际学校理事会(CIS)认证团队负责人。曾主导设计著名的战略性教学改革项目FLoW21，推动并优化了学生学习进程和教师教学实践的教育生态系统。拥有在多伦多、香港、伊斯坦布尔和北京等多家国际名校的教学及管理经验，是公认的教育改革专家和因材施教的践行者。

大家好，我是John Darcy博士，是青苗国际双语学校顺义校区的校长。

青苗顺义校区是一所特别的学校，因为我们为从幼儿园到12年级的学生提供服务。并且，我们十二年级的毕业生可以说取得了惊人的成绩，他们进入了世界各地的大学，从北京的清华大学，到伦敦大学学院，再到美国的纽约大学。

我们的学生在在世界各地的顶尖大学里学习，他们毕业后也会找到非常好的工作，他们之所以可以达成如此成就，是因为他们已经在中国文化体系中找到了坚实的基础， 了解了自己的中国根。他们真正懂得如何在国际环境中与来自世界各地的孩子们一起工作。

因此，当我们的学生被国外大学录取时，他们可以在这些课程上取得成功。这是因为我们和学生的关系很好。我们的老师从学生低年级阶段就开始了解他们，直到他们毕业。正是这种与老师和学生的亲密关系， 让他们有一个强大的工作和学习环境，并可以在其中工作。

青苗国际双语学校是一个已经发展了20年的双语项目。这是一个需要很长时间，来开发的精通程序。我们项目的重要之处在于，我们在中国的优秀教育路线和西方的优秀教育路线之间取得了很好的平衡。

国际教育的一个重要组成部分是具有国际意识。我们希望我们的孩子真正有强大的中国根，但我们也希望他们能够参与到全球环境中。我们希望他们能够成功，能够与来自世界各地的孩子和其他成年人进行谈判、工作和交谈。

随着中国拥抱世界，并在全球舞台上占据一席之地， 我们需要我们的孩子能够站到这一舞台上来。但我们也希望我们的孩子能够回到中国，并在这里取得成功。因此，拥有国际思维对当代的孩子来说是一项非常重要的技能。

在青苗顺义，我们的其中一个教育方式是通过基于探究的学习。探究意味着教孩子们如何提出好的问题，如何参与和解决可能没有明确答案的问题。能够设置挑战并让孩子们在考试中达到这些标准是一回事。

另一件事是让孩子们真正理解如何问一个好的问题，如何做真正好的研究并找到答案来回答那些没有明确答案的问题。让孩子们像那样创造性地思考，这就是我们青苗顺义校区所做的。

在青苗顺义校区的教育经验中，一个非常重要的部分是儿童的全面发展。这意味着我们培养孩子的学习能力，培养他们的身体技能， 培养他们的创造力， 培养他们的人际交往能力。

孩子的全部教育都是我们的工作重点。我们希望我们的孩子参与社会活动，服务工作， 创造性的活动，如唱歌，跳舞和艺术，也包括数学和技能发展。所以孩子的全人教育是我们青苗顺义校区教育经验的重要组成部分。

青苗顺义的学生通过能动性展示他们的学习能力,我们的学生越是进行自主学习和自觉学习，他们成功的可能性就越高,当他们学习高中课程以及准备去上大学时，我们需要我们的学生成为自主学习者。

我们从幼儿园最小的年级就开始培养学生的能动性，这一培养过程在五年级时会到达一个高潮,那时学生们会举办一次展览活动，在老师和家庭的支持下独立创建一个展示他们所热爱之物的完整项目。这对学生来说是非常重要的一件事，这证明他们已经学会了能动性和探究的能力， 两种能力在这次大型展览中通过让学生们在体育馆展示他们所有的作品以及让人们来和他们一起庆祝他们的工作而得到证明。但它不会止步于此，因为学生需要随着时间的推移再次发展这些技能。在十年级，我们有一个个人项目展览。在这一点上，学生将会探究一个他们非常关心的课题， 他们通过展示这个项目，让自己的自主能力和能动性得到了充分提升，这些都是我们计划的重要部分。学生们有很多重要的方式来展示他们在毕业时具备成功所必需的技能。在我们高中阶段的最后几年，学生可以独立完成扩展的论文。他们所做的CAS项目是创造力、行动和服务的简称， 这是IB项目的核心部分。重要的是，学生们要再次学习、全面发展，为高中以后的生活做好准备。

加入青苗对于我和我的家庭来说是一个非常重要的决定。作为一个双语家庭，我妻子是中国人。因此我女儿既是加拿大人又是中国人， 对我们来说，为她找到一个真正的双语教育经历是非常重要的。

自从加入青苗后，我的女儿开始茁壮成长，她的中文也有了进步。事实上，在加入青苗之前，她不会说中文，现在她会写中文，也会说中文，她在街上用中文交流。她进步得非常大。她的数学技能也进步得很快。她也对自己作为一个加拿大人同时生活在中国的文化背景有了非常好的理解。

刚才通过John Darcy校长对我们的教育模式的介绍，相信各位家长已经感受到了我们学校教育的特点，它是一个中西方融合式的教育，到底什么是中西方融合，具体在哪些地方可以体现呢？

我想通过我们的课程聚焦，让大家感受到我们中西方融合到底在哪里。在西方我们是采用了IB的全课程，我们是一所全IB学校，也就是说从我们的幼儿园、小学、初中、高中，我们都分别采用了IB课程，大家可以想象，在同样一个课程体系中，孩子们的学习可以达到无缝的衔接，他们会很自然的从幼儿园过渡到小学，从小学升入初中，然后再升入具有挑战性的高中，在这样一贯性的课程中，他们会得到非常有效的支持。

我们从高中阶段我们同时还提供了美国西部联盟的WASC课程，我们的学生高中毕业的时候，同时也拥有在美国的学生同样具有的美国高中毕业证书，为我们的孩子提供了更多的选择。

当大家了解了我们的西方课程体系，大家也会有疑问，你们的中国课程是如何体现的？

我们的小学课程中我们有夯实的中国课程的基础，在我们的语文学科和数学学科，我们都采用了国家课程体系，我们特别关注了在语文学科中与IB课程的一个连接，我们给孩子提供了各种各样的口语表达机会，孩子们呈现自己观点，有独立思维的机会。

除了这些机会之外，在数学课程中我们关注到了数学知识和数学语言对孩子以后今后学习发展的重要性。

所以我们除了中文数学，我们同时为我们的学生提供了英文数学课程，并且通过中文数学和英文课程的辅助，使我们的孩子从小学升入中学的时候，可以更自然的过渡到全英文的语言学习环境。我们也知道很多家长非常关注中国文化元素的融入，在我们的学校我们会看到我们有中国的图书馆课，老师可以和我们的孩子共同在知识的海洋中去探索中国五千年悠久的历史文化。

除此以外，我们还有中国文化课。在中国文化课程，孩子们可以通过不同的课程体系侧面的来支持我们学校语言课程的发展，使语文课程更具有立体性，更使孩子从知识、技能、素养、文化全方位得到发展。

除了学术课程之外，家长一定也关心我的孩子希望在一个愉悦的全面发展的学习环境中，学校还有哪些活动？

我们的英文探究课程可以和孩子共同探究孩子们感兴趣的话题。在老师的引领下，孩子们可以向他们的理想，向他们的梦想方向不断的延伸。我们有丰富的课外活动，我们有足球、篮球、棒球，还有旱地冰壶，除了这个之外，我们有丰富的艺术课、绘画、音乐、乐器，也有各种学术的竞赛。相信在我们学校中，我们的孩子可以真正得到全面的发展，无论他的兴趣在哪里，他都会得到学校课程整体立体化的支持，我们也期待在我们的校园中，我们每个孩子都像小苗一样可以茁壮的成长，去实现他自己未来的梦想。

很多家长可能也会关心学校的课程在落地过程中是需要有老师他们专业的学术的支持，学校是如何支持老师的发展，如何评估老师的。下面我也想简单和大家分享一下。

在我们的学校中，我们有各种各样的培训活动。在培训中我们最关注的是如何架起一座桥梁把国内的课程打通和国际的课程同时打通，所以我们会邀请国内的特级教师高级教师走进我们的校园，通过各种的网络的讲座，为我们的老师提供专业的培训。我们也会请IB的官方培训官来到学校，或一些小型的这样的组织的活动，来对我们的所有老师进行全方位的IB专业的培训。

我们同时也关注老师之间的互相学习。每周我们都有教研活动，教研活动有分学科的、分年级的、全校整体的，老师可以就自己感兴趣的进行项目制学习，同时我们相信教学相长，我们期待在一个学习社区中，我们的老师和我们的孩子一样，他们每天也是不断发展不断成长的。

我们学校有非常完善的评估体系，评估中我们除了有推门课，领导的定期评课，我们还特别关注老师之间为了自己某项感兴趣的教研，他自助组成的这种教研小组，老师可以跨学科听课，可以听同学科的课，也可以跨年级听课。

在非常自由的教研环境中，老师能找到自己感兴趣的发展的方向。在这样的一个专业的氛围中，我们相信我们的老师会为我们的孩子提供最专业的教育。

孩子们的创造性是作为一个教育者，我们最关注的也是特别精心呵护的。在我们学校有很多孩子们自发他们组织的小社团、小活动，如果每个月您进入我们的校园，你会发现我们的每个月有一个特别的饮食文化日，这个小组是一群六年级的孩子，他们根据自己的兴趣，然后会和我们的厨师长共同讨论，每个月去宣传一个国家的文化，孩子们会听那个国家的音乐，品尝那个国家的美食。

在这样的文化中，孩子们他们自己的兴趣被激发，他们同时也学会了团队合作，像这样的社团比比皆是。我们学校有很多有趣的活动，有很多展示学生的舞台，我们也期待您的孩子有机会加入，我们共同来寻找孩子身上的闪光点。

作为家长，当我们想给孩子选择一所新的学校的时候，我非常理解很多家长的担忧，因为我们也常常会听到家长问我们这样的问题，孩子能不能很快适应新的学习环境，我们会很自信的告诉您，我们希望把顺义校区打造成一所让家长安心的学校，特别是对新生，我们为新生提供了特别的支持计划，因为我们非常理解，任何一位家长都希望自己的孩子能非常顺利地适应新的学校环境，如何帮助孩子们很快的适应新的环境呢？

我们做了如下的这样的一些措施，我们会为每一个新生都安排一个在班级的学习小伙伴，有的时候孩子会很紧张，去问老师一些问题，但是当有一个小伙伴常常在他左右的时候，他就会把所有的困惑向小伙伴分享，及时的得到解答。我们的班主任老师也会在第一周发出新生的相信，为我们的新生来介绍学校的一些正常的规章制度、一些作业、常用的软件，孩子们日常生活所涉及的所有问题，在家长信中都会提及。

开学一周之后，我们的校长也会约见我们的新生家长和他们进行咖啡茶的座谈，来了解孩子的适应情况、来了解孩子的反馈、了解家长的困惑，为以后更好的支持做好准备。

在我们学校有各种各样的交流渠道，家长不用担心不知道有问题向谁反映，也不用担心孩子遇到困难的时候，谁可以帮助您来解决。我们有班主任，在中学我们有导师制，除了这个之外，我们还有特别支持的一些项目老师，比如如果孩子的英文课程可能觉得有些吃力，我们会特别考虑孩子的语言差异。在小学每个班级我们都有一位语言的辅助老师，会根据孩子的语言水平提供小组的支持。

在中学我们也在数学学科、人文学科根据学生的英文水平进行适当的分组，来支持孩子的英文全面的发展。在这样一个孩子的个性被关注，孩子的优势，孩子们需要提高的领域也被关注的环境中，我们相信每个孩子都会得到个性化的发展。

我们有各种各样的家校沟通渠道，来营造我们和谐的家校沟通的氛围。我们有正规的家长信，微信群通知。除此以外，每个月我们都为家长提供讲座，还有非正式的咖啡茶时间，希望家长有任何问题都可以及时的与学校沟通，共同携手来帮助我们的学生的成长。

很多家长可能在犹豫，现在到底要不要选择国际化的教育？

Hello，my name is doctor John Darcy, I’m the head of school that are Beanstalk International Bilingual School here in Shunyi.We are a very special school because we serve children from kindergarten up until grade 12.And we must say that we've had some fabulous results from our grade 12 students who have attended universities around the world from Tsinghua here in Beijing，to university of college in London，to New York University in the United States. Around the world our students are processing at excellent universities, doing really fabulous job once they leave our school， they can do that because they've really found a strong foundation in a Chinese cultural system where they understand their Chinese roots. They really understand how to work in an international environment with kids from around the world。

So when our students progress to universities outside of China，they can be successful in those classes。This happens because we have strong relationships with our students.Our teachers get to know our students from

the youngest of ages up until they graduate.It's that close relationship with teachers and students that allows for them to have a strong learning environment within which to work.

Beanstalk has been developing for the last 20 years as bilingual programs.It's a masterful program that has taken a long time to develop. What's important about our program is that we have a very nice balance between great educational routes that are based in China and really great educational routes based in the west.

And is that relationship that we can do here that provides the strongest international education for children. We understand what that means and we provide a structure that looks like this from China and from the east We have these strong understandings of deep and deliberate practice where students need to work hard and develop skills over time.

And that deep and deliberate practices is part of our program here at BIBS.Also from the east, we understand the importance of competition, a collaborate of competition,So students are working hard together to get better at their learning.

It's an important piece of how we work in our educational model.From the west what we'd really value our ideas of problem solving, innovation and creativity,and that's something that we want our students to do. but they can only be creative if they understand the content knowledge within the subject area.

So it's that relationship between deep and deliberate practice and creativity and innovation and problem solving that we want for our students here at our campus.Equally at our campus and from the west we value personalized learning. We understand that every single child is different, doesn't matter where they come from, they could all come from one city, but still every child is different.Even in a single family with two children that those two children are going to be different. What we want to do at our school and what we do do is to create personalized educational experiences. We treat every single child as a different human being, and we help them move through the educational program. So it is these big pieces of bilingual systems from the east and the west allow Beanstalk to be a very special program.

An important part of an international education is becoming internationally minded. We want our kids to really have strong Chinese roots, but we also want them to be able to engage in a global context. We want them to be successful, being able to negotiate and work with and talk with kids and adults as they grow older from around the world.

As China embraces the world and take this place on the global stage, we need our kids to be able to participate in those spaces. But we also want our kids to be able to come back to China and be successful here as well. So having that international mindedness is a very important skill for contemporary kids to learn.

Part of the way that we do that here is through inquiry based learning. Inquiry means teaching kids how to ask good questions, how to engage and solve problems that maybe don't have really clear answers. It's one thing to be able to set up a challenge and have kids meet those standards on a test.

It's another thing to get kids to really understand how to ask a good question,how to do really good research and find answers to questions that don't have clear answers.Getting kids to think creatively like that is what we do here at BIBS Shunyi campus.

An important part of the educational experience here at our Shunyi BIBS campus is holistic child development. That means we develop the child's academic skills, we develop their physical skills, we develop their creativity skills, we develop their human interaction skills.

The whole child is an important part of our journey here. We expect for our kids to be physically engaged in social activities in service work, in creative activities like singing and dancing and art, but also in mathematics and in skills development. So it's the whole child that is an important part of the experience here at our BIBS Shunyi campus.

Students at BIBS Shunyi demonstrate their skills of learning through agency, the more our students learn how to self direct their learning and take responsibility for their learning,the more they're going to be successful when they get into their graduating programs in the diploma program and they go off to university. We need our students to become self directed learners.

We developed that agency right from the youngest grades in kindergarten, which culminates in grade five with an experience called the exhibition where students work independently with the support of teachers and families to create a whole project and inquiry and presentation about something of there that they're passionate about. It's a really important piece for students to demonstrate that they have learned the skills of agency and inquiry that culminate in the big exhibition where students show all of their work in a gymnasium, people come and celebrate that work with them. But it doesn't stop there because students need to develop those skills again over time. And in grade ten we have a personal project exhibition. At that point again, students inquire into a big topic that they care deeply about and they show their skills of self direction and agency and research that comes together in a big presentation. These are important parts of our program. There are important ways for students to show that they have the skills necessary to be successful as they graduate. In the final couple of years of our program, students to independently work on extended essays. They work on a CAS which is creativity, action and service and these are core parts of our program.It's important that students learn that again that holistic development that prepares them for life beyond high school.

The decision to join Beanstalk was one that my family took very seriously. As a bilingual family, my wife is Chinese so my daughter is both Canadian and Chinese, it was very important for us to find an educational experience for her that truly was bilingual.

Since joining Beanstalk, my daughter has just thrived, her Chinese language has developed. In fact before she joined Beanstalk, she couldn't speak Chinese and now she writes Chinese, she speaks Chinese, she communicates on the streets in Chinese. She's progressing very well. Her mathematics skills are really progressing very well. She's also developing a really nice cultural understanding of both herself within the Chinese context, but also as a Canadian.

The decision to join Beanstalk has been a really powerful one for my family.  I think that joining Beanstalk is really about that it comes down to family. When you join our community, you become a member of our community and that's a really powerful thing. Our kids they develop lifelong friends here. Our graduates go on to stay friends for a long time. I'm really happy to be a Beanstalk and I'd like to invite you to consider joining us.

The decision to send your child to a school is a big one, as a father, I appreciate how hard that decision is and you want to have as much information as you can to make the right decision for your family.
