大家好,我是上海美高学校的董事长方正。非常高兴能够有这个机会和大家讨论我对于如何培养创新人才的一种想法,以及如何把这样子的一种想法、理念在我们学校确实的实行的一种方式。
创新人才,顾名思义就是能够把一些新的想法,新的做法带进来。推翻了传统的思维而得到比较好的效果。
有创新的能力和习惯的人,不论他决定要走哪一种人生的方向,他可以做一个科学家,他可以做一个医生,他可以做一个企业家,他可以做一个工程师,他可以变成一个艺术家, 或者是音乐家,有创新的这种思维,能力跟习惯的人,都比较容易在他的人生的道路上面成功。
而我刚才在提到创新的能力、习惯,而我没有谈到天赋,可见它事实上不是天生而是后天培养出来的。
我们如何来做到培养?
有一个非常著名的哲学家在花了他一生的时间研究所有艺术的这种演变。后来他发现到的一件事情是其实根本就没有所谓的艺术,只有艺术家。这个的意思是只有人能够带来改变, 而只有改变的人他们能够创造历史,他们能够得到成功。
我们来看看创新的能力跟习惯应该是如何培养呢?
什么是具有创新能力最重要的元素?很多人一定直接的反应,就会认为知识,只有充沛的知识才能让一个人具备创新的这种能力。
我们来看看这种想法他有什么样的缺点?试想全世界知识最渊博的人,他在脑袋里头所能装的知识点其实还比不过任何一个现在我们的孩子手上、口袋里头会带着的智能手机。一个智能手机它所能涵盖的知识点跟信息绝对远胜于这个世界上知识最渊博的人。
但是我没有感觉到,我们的生活会被智能手机所挑战。智能手机给我们生活中带来的这种便利跟惊喜难道是它自己本身所组成的知识点造成的吗?
人工智能真正能够给我们带来惊喜,甚至给我们的下一代他们的生活、工作带来挑战,真正最重要的一个原因不是在于它们有充沛的知识点,而是在于它们能够模拟人的想法。
而在模拟的过程当中它们能够开始去学习,因为有学习,所以它们开始创新。当它们具备了创新改进的能力的时候,再加上它们永无止境的知识点的集结造成了人工智能有这么可怕的威力。
这就是为什么上世纪最伟大的一个物理学家爱因斯坦,他曾经说过一句话:想象比知识更重要,创造力,想象力远比知识要来的重要。
上海美高双语学校
好,我们来看看既然一个孩子他在成长的期间绝大部分的时间都会待在学校。我经常在说一个人一天有24个小时,而一个孩子在成长的过程当中他的24个小时是如何分配的呢?8个小时休息、睡觉、吃饭,另外的8个小时的时间他会在学校里头学习。
因此这8个小时在学校里头学习的时间就变成培养一个孩子具有创新能力、具备跟发展,他人生当中要成功非常重要的一些习惯跟能力。而在这个过程当中,创新能力的培养是一个非常重要的元素。
创新的能力我刚才有讲过。我们从电脑纯粹的提供运算记忆的这种能力一直到发展人工智能的这种效果的时候,中间事实上讲最重要的是它发展了模拟人的思维方式学习以及创新的这样子一个能力。
我们来看看我们如何帮助一个孩子来培养到这样子一个能力。而最重要的一点如何避免到现在,在一般的这种教育方式,在传统的这种教育系统里头他会落入的一些教育的一些谬思,更错误的做法。
一个人怎么样子会有创新的能力?我归结下来。第一个他必须要有问问题的这种习惯。我一直在学校里头教导我们学校的每一个孩子,让他们知道的一件事情就是现在我们所知道的每一件事情,甚至是我们相信绝对正确的真理中每100件,至少有99件,不是错误的,就是具备改进的机会。
你除非是想抱有这样子的一个信念,你才会开始培养怀疑的能力跟习惯。然后,你会开始对你身边的每一件事情开始去问到问题,而这是培养创新能力最重要的一个基础。
在培养了问问题的这种习惯跟能力以后你还要再培养的是找答案的这种习惯跟能力。让我这样子来讲,找答案的这种习惯跟能力就是我们一般人所说的执行的能力。我如果只会问问题,而我不会去找答案这样子其实事实上来讲,将来我就会有一些想法永远没有办法落实。
而你去找答案的时候你会学习动用到各种的工具,你会有这种能力跟习惯找各种的资源。这种资源中间有一些可能是你周边的人,你周边的老师,你的朋友或工具的话,事实上来讲可能是书本,可能是电脑。不论如何你在会问问题,还学会找答案。
然后来到最后一步。事实上是什么,你学会了如何去解释你的想法,让你周边的人能够去了解,能够去接受。甚至至少讲在培养这种能力的时候,你不但会解释自己的想法,你甚至可以去解决人家的疑虑甚至是挑战。
能够做到这三点: 问问题,找答案,然后解释答疑的人。我给你保证他绝对具备了创新的能力。因此我们来看看传统的教育的方式,老师用单线式的、希望把一堆的知识塞到他的学生的脑袋里头,为了让他的学生能够最有效率的去吸收到这些知识,老师把解题的方式都已经跟孩子说过了。
一个孩子在成长的过程当中,如果他已经习惯了他周边的大人都急着要把最直接的答案给他,他如何去培养问问题的这种习惯?他如何去培养找答案的能力?他如何去培养解释自己想法?解决人家的疑虑的能力?当然是好像不具备这种能力。
不论这个孩子具备再多的知识点,他学会了再多的解题的答案,他的考试分数有多高,我们可以断定到这个孩子能够拥有创新能力的可能性其实是非常低的。
因此我经常在说一个最幸运的孩子是找到会教育他的老师,能够有会养育他的家长。最倒霉的孩子是碰到只想教他的老师跟只会养他的父母。而这中间最大的一个差别就在于“育”字,而“育”字是真正能够培养一个孩子具备创新能力跟习惯的关键。

Hello everyone. I’m Fang Zheng, the chairman of Living Word Shanghai. Very happy to have this opportunity to discuss with everyone my thoughts about how to cultivate innovative talents as well as how to implement such an idea and concept in our school.
Innovative talents, as the name implies is to be able to bring in some new ideas and new practices. Overthrow the traditional thinking and get better effect, better results.
People with innovative ability and habit, no matter which direction he decides to take in life. He/She can be a scientist. He/She can be a doctor. He/She can be an entrepreneur. He/She can be an engineer. He/She can become an artist, or a musician. People with innovative thinking, ability and habit are easier to succeed in his life.
And I just mentioned the ability to innovate, the habit, but I didn’t talk about talent. It can be seen that it is actually not born but cultivated.
How do we cultivate it?
There is a very famous philosopher after spending his whole life study this evolution of all art. One thing he discovered later was, in fact, there is no so-called art at all, only artists. What this means only people can bring change and only those who change they can make history, they can be successful.
Let's take a look how should the ability and habit of innovation be cultivated?
What is the most important element of being innovative? Many people must respond directly and think that knowledge, only knowledge could let a person have the ability to innovate.
Let's take a look what are the shortcomings of this idea? Imagine the most knowledgeable person in the world. All the knowledge points he can put in his head actually it's not better than any one that our children will carry them in their pockets a smart phone. A smart phone, the knowledge points and information it can storecover definitely is far more better than the most knowledgeable person in the world.
But I didn't feel that our lives will be challenged by smart phones. Smart phone its has brought convenience and surprises brought to our lives. Is it caused by its own knowledge points?
The reason of artificial intelligence can really surprise us, even challenge our next generation their lives and work. The most important reason not because they have ample knowledge, it’s because they can simulate people’s ideas.
And during the simulation, they can start to learn. Because of learning, they start to innovate. When they have the ability to innovate and improve coupled with their endless collection of knowledge points lead to the terrible power of artificial intelligence.
This is why Einstein, one of the greatest physicists of the last century has said a sentence: imagination is more important than knowledge, creativity and imagination are more important than knowledge.
Ok let's take a look. When a child is growing up he/she spends most of the time in school. I often say that a person has 24 hours a day. And when a child grows up how is his/her 24 hours allocated? 8 hours rest, sleep, and eat and another 8 hours he will study in school.
So these 8 hours study time in school is a time to foster a child to be Innovative, to get important habits and abilities related to development and success. In this process, the cultivation of innovation ability, this is a very important element.
Innovative ability I just talked about. We start from the computer purely provides the ability to calculate memory until the effect of development of artificial intelligence. In fact, the most important thing it develops a ability of simulating human thinking, learning and innovation such an ability.
Let's take a look. How do we help a child to cultivate such an ability. And the most important point how to avoid until now in general this way of education. In the traditional education system, people would fall into some educational myths, more wrong approach.
How does a person have the ability to innovate? I conclude that first he must have the habit of asking questions. I have been in school and teach every child in our school. One thing that let them know everything we know now even we believe in absolutely correct truth. Every 100 pieces, at least 99 pieces are either wrong, or there is an opportunity for improvement.
Unless you want to have such a belief then you start to develop the ability and habit of doubt. Then you will start to everything around you, start to ask questions. This is the most important foundation for cultivating innovation ability.
After developing the habit and ability to ask questions. What you have to cultivate is the habit and ability to find answers. Let me speak like this. The habit and ability to find answers is what we most people say ability to execute. If I only ask questions, but I won’t find answers as a such. Actually speaking I will have some ideas in the future can never be implemented.
And when you look for the answer you will learn to use various tools. You will have this ability and habit find various resources. Some of these resources maybe people around you. The teachers around you, your friends or tools. In fact, it may be a book, may be a computer. No matter what you are asking questions, and you learn to find answers.
Then come to the last step. What is actually you learned how to explain your ideas let people around you able to understand, able to accept. Even at least while developing this ability you will not only explain what you think, you can even solve people's doubts even challenge.
Children who can do these three points: ask the question, find the answer, and then explain the answerer. I promise you he definitely has the ability to innovate. Therefore let’s take a look at the traditional way of education. Teachers use single-line ways and want to stuff a bunch of knowledge into his student's head. In order to make his students be able to absorb this knowledge most efficiently the teacher tells the children how to solve the problem.
When a child is growing up if he is used to that the adults around him are anxious to give him the most direct answer, how does he cultivate the habit of asking questions? How does he cultivate the ability to find answers? How does he cultivate the ability to explain his ideas and the ability to solve others' doubts. Of course, it doesn’t seem to have this ability.
No matter how much knowledge the child has, how much answers he has learned and how high his test score is. We can conclude that the possibility of this child being able to innovate is actually very low.
So I often say one of the luckiest children is to find a teacher who can educate him, to have parents who can raise him. The most unlucky child is to meet a teacher who just wanted to teach him and with his parents who only support him. And the biggest difference lies in the word "Yu". And the word "Yu" is the key to really foster a child innovation ability and habit.
